Anthurium variegatum is a rare variety of the Flamingo Flower known for striking variegated foliage. Like other anthuriums, it sports glossy heart-shaped leaves and long-lasting spathes (colored “flowers”). These tropical plants originated in the warm, humid rainforests of South America and the Caribbean. Indoors, they prefer bright, indirect light (east or north windows) and consistently warm temperatures around 18–26°C. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves. Keep the soil evenly moist – water when the top 2 inches feel dry, but never let the plant sit in waterlogged soil. To mimic their jungle home, mist the leaves regularly or place the pot on a pebble tray with water. Anthuriums enjoy high humidity (50–70% is ideal) and will thank you with vibrant new growth and blooms.

Anthuriums are generally low-maintenance but do carry a warning: their sap and leaves are poisonous to pets and people, so keep them safely out of reach. Their exotic blooms and glossy leaves make them a showy addition to modern décor – interior designers love them in dining rooms and offices for a pop of color.
